Canine Play Areas

dogs playing in a dog parkCanine play areas, also known as dog parks, offer a controlled environment that allows dogs to exercise off-leash while under the supervision of their owners. Found in an increasing number of cities and towns, the fenced parks may offer wheelchair access, man made ponds for swimming, benches, and large shade trees.

Dog parks benefit both dogs and humans alike by providing a social setting for people and their pets to gather and have fun. They offer an area where dogs can play exercise safely, and are especially beneficial to seniors and disabled owners.

Bob and Nancy Hammond, owners of Meditation Gardens, are dog-lovers and are foster parents in the Echo Dogs White Shepherd Rescue program in New England. Bob brings his love for his canine friends, and his skills as a mason, arborist, and landscaper, to the design and construction of dog parks for municipalities.
